Celestite, seraphinite, angelite… Stones with evocative names. But do they really have a connection with the angelic realm? Indeed, what could be further apart than an angel and a stone? Yet, together, they unite the celestial and the earthly, light and matter, the subtle and the dense. Although some claim that, throughout history, certain stones have been associated with individual angels, there is no mention anywhere of any link between the celestial realm and the mineral kingdom.

Nevertheless, ancient traditions – whether sacred or magical – associate stones with higher intelligences. Consequently, based on the coloured vibration emanating from each archangel, the following associations can be suggested, though everyone is free to follow their own intuition…

Choosing your stone

Choose a stone that is shiny and brightly coloured. Carry it with you, hold it in your hand whilst meditating, or give it as a gift. Cleanse your stone regularly, taking into account whether it is solar or lunar in nature. For more on this, see our guide to stones.

A simple meditation

Take a stone and hold it in the palm of your hand. Breathe calmly, paying attention to the sensations it evokes: its softness, its warmth, its vibration.
Then gently invoke the angel or archangel:
‘I welcome you, [name of the angel], messenger of heaven. May your light dwell within this stone, and may this stone connect me to you.’
